About Peter

Peter is an experienced lawyer who has conducted significant commercial and general litigation in most Courts as well as criminal law defences in the Magistrates' Court and the County Court. Peter has also acted in:

  • The Royal Commission into the Australian Wheat Board (AWB) as defence lawyer, for one of the Regional Managers of the Middle East named by the Commission as a person of significant interest.
  • Debarment proceedings brought against the AWB Regional Manager by the United States Department of Agriculture.
  • Criminal matters in both the Magistrates and County Courts.
  • Civil trials in the Supreme Court.
  • Bankruptcy and Company Winding-up proceedings.

Interests Outside of Work

  • Has represented Victoria for over a decade in Master's Indoor cricket;
  • Has coached the Victorian under 21's men's indoor cricket team in the Australian National's Competition;
  • Has managed the Australian under 16 boy's indoor cricket team in the inaugural junior's indoor cricket World cup in South Africa 2012;
  • Board member of Indoor Sports Victoria;
  • Chairman of the Victorian Indoor Cricket state coaches and team managers' selection committee;
  • Former junior vice-president of the Noble Park Football Social Club; and

Examples of Recent Matters

Instructing solicitor at a recently concluded County Court trial involving a substantial outstanding amount pursuant to an agreement and guarantee. The matter involved a previously unsettled question of law in Victoria as to whether an action against guarantors involves the enforcement of a guarantee against the directors.
The matter was concluded at trial and a favourable judgement made in favour of the client.

Instructing solicitor in a County Court trial to recover a large amount outstanding pursuant to a breach of a loan agreement and guarantee. The matter was concluded at trial and a favourable judgement made in favour of the client.

Acting for the Plaintiff in a complex County Court matter involving multiple Defendants including a firm of solicitors. The matter settled prior to trial with a favourable result to the Plaintiff.

Acting for a range of Plaintiffs in all aspects of debt recovery from letter of demand stage through to enforcement stage including bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings and drafting of relevant documents.
Acting in a number of criminal and motor traffic offence matters both as instructing solicitor or appearance work as a solicitor advocate.
